The Benefits of being a Minimalist

Since a youngster I have always chased expensive possessions, from cars, houses, watches and so on, thinking once I get them I will be happy!
It has taken me till 38 to learn that this is the completely wrong way to live and a way to simply never be happy, as you’re always chasing the next big thing and delaying your happiness in the process.
The last 6 months I have focused on eliminating things from my life that don’t serve me, and not making me truly happy. Being more of a minimalist if you like.
1) We got rid of a car and now have one (which my wife mainly has) which I have nearly paid off, and I walk or cycle when required.
2) Cancel subscriptions we don’t truly need.
3) Worked on and paying down liabilities.
4) Decluttered our home to free up space.
5) Got rid of 50% of my clothes, most were old and just sitting in wardrobe.
6) Sorted all paperwork so paperless, and I can easily save on my Google Drive.
I have found it to have a massive benefit for me and my overall happiness. Saying no to keeping up with the Joneses, comparing what I have to what others have and focusing on what matters to me, which is my freedom.
Like most people, I want freedom of control, to live and to work where and when I want. The expensive liabilities only prevent your freedom as they trap you into having to keep the job you hate, or having to work harder and harder to earn money to pay them off, or not being able to do the things you truly want, because the possessions and liabilities now own you.
I am 100% focused on creating freedom for myself and my family, which means investing heavily in my businesses and investment accounts so my money and my businesses will work every day without me.
